myotherapy
Myotherapy is a specialized form of manual therapy that focuses on the assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Using a variety of hands-on techniques and therapeutic modalities to address issues such as musculoskeletal pain, muscle tension, joint restrictions, and movement impairments.
Massage Therapy: Various massage techniques, such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and sports massage, are used to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and alleviate pain.
Dry Needling: Dry needling involves the insertion of thin needles into trigger points or tight muscles to release tension and reduce pain.
Cupping Therapy: Cupping involves placing suction cups on the skin to create a vacuum effect, which helps release muscle tension, improve blood flow, and promote healing.
Joint Mobilization: Gentle mobilization techniques are used to improve joint mobility, reduce stiffness, and enhance range of motion.
MET: Muscle Energy Technique is a contract relax technique, to reduce muscle tension and pain. It involves shortening the muscle length when contracting, then controlling this in an isometric hold, then followed by muscle lengthening when relaxed post.
Multidisciplinary approach: Coordinating care with the rest of the team, to include Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology or Podiatry as appropriate for optimal patient care.
Myotherapy is suitable for individuals of all ages and fitness levels and can be beneficial for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including acute and chronic pain, sports injuries, postural imbalances, and work-related strains.
